I am starting this blog for a class that I am currently taking at UNC called “The Branding of Me.” First, a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Statesville, NC, a small, growing city about 45 minutes north of Charlotte. Growing up in North Carolina, I have always had a deep love for college basketball, as many in the state have. My father attended UNC in the 80s where he played football along with his brother. Needless to say, their love of UNC was instilled in me at an early age (as you can tell from my photo with Coach Roy Williams above). I have blogged before on sports and such but not as extensively as I plan on using this blog. In a time where journalism seems to be in a purgatory of such, I think it is important to offer viewpoints regarding a number of issues facing not only journalism in the future but also sports journalism. I will use this blog to discuss the importance of these issues and offer some views on how I think sports journalism and journalism as a whole will evolve.
